Compression Socks Benefits

August 8, 2020 by Melissa Bell Leave a Comment

Have you ever wondered why people wear compression socks? They are used throughout the world, from professional athletes, football and basketball players to older people that have problems with circulation. They have been around for quite some time and can benefit you in several important ways.

Enhance Circulation

Blood circulation is very important because it supplies all your organs with oxygen. It also promotes healthier skin and stimulates cell growth. This is why compression hosiery is also used by people suffering from varicose veins.

It also keeps your body warm. If your hands and feet are constantly cold, this usually means that you have a problem with circulation. One way to resolve that problem is to wear compression socks. Compression socks provide oxygen-rich blood to the leg by applying pressure to blood vessels which increases the flow of blood.

So, when a doctor recommends you to wear them because of a weak circulation, make sure to take their advice.

Compression Socks

Reducing Pain and Swelling

Lots of people struggle with pain and swelling. If this happens frequently, you need to do something about it. First, you should go to the doctor for a proper diagnosis of the problem. If the cause issue is not serious, the doctor may recommend a compression sock.

Likewise, many professional sports players and athletes are advised to wear them as well since they put a lot of pressure on their legs and feet. Wearing compression socks can reduce the pain and swelling of your feet.

People who work out also like to wear compression socks to the gym as well. It helps them protect their legs and feet.

Preventing Deep Vein Thrombosis

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a serious condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein located inside your body. Deep vein blood clots usually form in people’s thighs or lower legs, but they can also develop in other areas.

The condition itself can lead to many complications if left untreated. Some of the symptoms include pain, swelling and tenderness.

For people with high risk for DVT, wearing compression socks can prevent swelling and might lower their chance of forming blood clots. If you belong to this high-risk group, your doctor may recommend you wear these every day.

Reducing Fatigue

It is recommended that you wear compressions socks before you start to feel discomfort. For example, if you have to spend the entire day on your feet, you should leave the house with the socks on. This way, they will prevent premature fatigue in your legs and feet.

That’s why many professional athletes wear them during training. They keep your feet protected and less weary. You will be able to finish a lot more chores with the socks on. Plus, if it’s a recommendation from your doctor, make sure to wear them regularly. They are quite comfortable. I have worn these Lasso Gear ankle socks and experienced no discomfort.

A Few Final Words

Wearing compression socks can prevent and reduce a lot of conditions, especially problems that affect your feet and legs. Still, don’t try to self-medicate and diagnose yourself based on what you read online. Follow your medical provider’s recommendations, and if they happed to include compression socks, make sure to take them seriously and oblige.
