July 14, 2021 by Melissa Bell Leave a Comment

The soft and hard surfaces of teeth are effectively cut using dental burs. It was utilized to prepare the endodontic cavity by the dentist.

Doctors need it during filling and root canal treatments to create a secure fit for the endodontic handpiece. Dental burs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, making them unique for every dental treatment.

The cavity’s location and character determine the kind of dental bur to use. In the same dental treatment, more than one dental bur may be utilized.

The kind of dental bur to use is determined by the size and nature of the cavity. In the same dental treatment, more than one dental bur may be utilized.

In shaping and cutting, the dental bur used by the researcher in the dental lab is harder and more flexible. They were used to cut hard plastic, trim models, and prepare crowns.

Each method requires a different thickness of burs and a different advanced cutting edge. Here are the types of dental burs we know so far:

The diamond burs

The most frequent kind of dentist bur is still the diamond burs. Diamond offers a wide range of cutting grits, making it an ideal dental bur.

They utilized a friction grip shank-type high-speed handpiece. Because the little cutting grit becomes dull with time, a new bur is required for good cutting.

Without any polishing surface, the abrasive bur rapidly cuts the enamel surface. It comes in a variety of forms and sizes.

Stainless steel burs

Rough items are sliced using stainless-steel dental burs. It features a superior cutting surface and a long service life.

Burs may also be used to remove previously put dental filling material due to their rough texture. Because it is very resistant to breaking, it is more cost-effective than other dental burs. In the right-angle handpiece, the pattern of the steel bars is lacquered.

Tungsten carbide burs

It may be utilized for tooth preparation as well as the removal and repair of dental crowns. The material has a higher stiffness than steel.

It’s most frequently utilized in dentistry labs. Carbide burs may be used to cut strong acrylic content. They are resistant to abrasion. Coated heads are also available, which improves cutting efficiency. Burs handling is straightforward, and they last a long time in the dental lab.

Burs for finishing and polishing

It’s often used to finish composite filling products. The rank and finishing head of the burs have a unique angle. Dentist dental material comes in a variety of sizes and forms and provides an excellent cavity finish.

For a dental filling, the polishing burs provide a gleaming surface. Each dental treatment has its own color code.

Acrylic dental laboratory burs

Before final firing, dental acrylic burs are used to repair acrylic materials like partial and complete dentures, bespoke trays, rough gold abrasion, cobalt-chromium tooth alloys, composites veneers, or ceramics. Acrylic dental burs are made of the highest grade stainless steel to ensure durability and precision cutting.

It reduces the amount of rework required. It also has an exceptionally extended service life and a compelling cutting performance.
